oh dear me. and a tag....again.

*in a sing song-y voice* IIIIIIIIIIIIIII hate packing!

Seriously. I never know what to bring...how many shoes....what tops....which jeans....and then.....

it gets even worse when I'm constricted to a suitcase of "carry on" proportions

oh, dear me.

But I think I've got it down.....seven tops (that are all really easy to roll up), three pairs of jeans - one of which I'll be wearing, so only two have to go in my suitcase...two pairs of pj bottoms & a couple tees, workout gear (because I plan on taking advantage of the glorious gym!), intimates, and then shoes.....I'm praying it all fits....EEP! But then I still have to figure out where I'm putting my makeup/cosmetic bag.......so, maybe this is gonna be harder than I thought.....meh....

ANYWAY.

Mooooooooving on.....

Remember this tag I did? Well. I was tagged again by miss Chelsea over at Happy Bow Lucky - she's one of my favorite bloggers right now and I am so in love with her little space! I'm not going to tag anyone else again, but I just wanted to answer her tagged questions cause they were so great! :)

I'll give y'all another 11 random things about myself (because we all know how much you love reading them....haha noooooot ;) and then I'll do hers :)

1. I lose my phone every day. Seriously. I'll walk into my room and set it down somewhere, and five minutes later, I can't find it. It's awful.
2. I have a crush right now on a college senior. if you follow me on twitter you've heard all about it. It's quite depressing, actually....but whatevs.
3.) I used to freeze worms with my daddy and then watch them come back to life. cruel, I know...
4. I am fairly certain, that if given the chance, my brother and I would kick butt at the amazing race. SERIOUSLY.
5. I have horrible vision. I wear really thick glasses/high prescription contacts.
6. I am not soul-less, contrary to popular belief.
7. My closet is 10x12. And I love/hate it . It causes many problems.
8. I hate swimming and am terrible at it. Meh.
9. I want to get married sooooooooo badly.
10. I want to sing the national anthem at the world series one day. Totally unlikely, but hey, a girl can dream.
11. if I could visit every thrift store in the country I would. I looooove them!!

And now for Chelsea's questions :)

1. If you could open your own business, what would it be?
I'd love to own my own fashion line. Which is weird...haha
2. What is your greatest fear?
Losing my entire family. I have dreams frequently that they all die except for Addy and I - it's awful.
3. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
Getting dresses, doing my makeup, and hair? 15 - 20 minutes. Waking up is the hardest part.
4. What is your greatest talent?
Humility, definitely ;) bahahahaha. I don't know!
5. Who is your favorite actor/actress & why?
I loooooooove Kate Hudson. Don't know why though.
6. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Right where I am. Or a private island....
7. If you could go back in time, what's one thing you'd change?
Eve listening to the serpent...and she and Adam eating the fruit.
8. If it was possible to see into the future, would you want to?
No.
9. What's one thing about yourself (inwardly) you'd like to change?
How much I talk. I dominate too many conversations and leave feeling badly.
10. Do you regret your past or learn from it?
To trust God in everything. And listen to your parents...hahaha
11. What is your ALL TIME favorite song?
Basically, this is impossible for me to answer. Anything Adele, John Mayer, or country....hahaha. Yeah. I have no idea. You should see my top 25 most played playlist. I kid you not, to make it to that list the song has to be played over 1500 times - that's the MINIMUM number of plays of those songs.

That was fun - if you want to do the questions Chelsea gave me, go for it! And let one of us know!

Happy Tuesday, lovelies!

a few new faves

I've come across a few blogs lately that I have just fallen in love with. MAN. They are so cute! And I just had to share them with you. But what's even better? They were all discovered via Instagram. BOOOOOOYAHHHHHHH! (ahem....sorry...kim possible reference. I'm done now....)

First is miss Tabatha's blog. Wanna know something funny? She liked one of my photos on instagram - I looked at her page, liked her pics, and followed her....then I saw that she had a blog...and it was called "oh so cute vintage".....UM. Hellllllllllo, I just had to check it out. Soooo, I did. And I love it. Go check it out, she's adorable.. -OH SO CUTE VINTAGE-

Now we have Rachel of Smile and Wave...oh my dear me. How did I not see her blog before this either? I may or may not have stalked her instagrams and then discovered that she has a blog too....she's so cute! And her kids? OH my WORD. Must read. SMILE AND WAVE

Lastly, but most definitely not least, is Beth of Odd Girl Out...? blog - her blog is so cute, and inspiring. She has four (adorable) kiddos, and is a lover of all things vintage. You must check her blog out - she is really just too cute. ODD GIRL OUT...?

And that's all for now, friends! I must get going and study for my permit test...cause I'm going in to take it again today...and praying that I don't fail. MEH. I'm so lame. Hahaha....kay. I'm out!

-ruthanneeeeeeeeee

(can you tell I'm only *slightly* hyper today? yeah. that's an understatement.)

words.

musically inspired. lonely. boring.
weird. joyfully enjoying the company of my family.
itching to drive for hours, with no where to go.

Those are all words and phrases that describe my heart and emotions right now.

musically inspired. I've written three songs in the past week. And I'm just feeling so inspired.

But I feel lonely, because I feel that that's all I seem to do - school, blog, write music, sew, sleep, and do it again. but I'm sure it doesn't help that I set John Mayer's "Perfectly Lonely" as my ringtone. Anyway, you get the gist - I'm feeling so very lonely.

Which leads into the next two, boring && weird, I feel like because of my hobbies, the people I'm around think I don't think they're cool enough, or that I'm just so boring and lame because I don't do what they like to do. It's a terrible feeling.

but I'm joyfully enjoying the company of my family - as annoying as they all are right now - between my 13 year old brother who is just such a dork you can't take it, and my whiny 5 year old brother and my angsty, emotionally spontaneous, obnoxious 10 year old sister, I'm still thankful that I have them to keep me company while I am so very lonely.

This one is my favorite. itching to drive for hours, with no where to go. Oh, I just want to go. I want to get in a car and drive, listening to country music the whole way - no where to go, no place to be, just driving. I want to stop in a meadow that may be frozen and frosty, and just sit, listening to the stillness. I want to write - something inspirational, something novel. I want to sing, without a care in the world, a song of joy and peace. I want to just drive. Not knowing where I'll end up.

words.

My momma called me a writer today. I've never really thought of myself as an actual writer, outside of music and songwriting, but I suppose she is right. Over the past 6 months, I've come to view words differently. I've come to see that it can take as many or as few as you want to describe the emotion, location, or person of choice. words are something great and honestly, I am so grateful that we have them.

seattle bound: t-minus five days

Guess who's taking a trip to Seattle, with her favorite men ever? Yes! that's right! :) So incredibly excited, y'all. Next week my dad, uncle, grandfather, brother and I hop on a plane and head to Seattle for a fun filled four day weekend in the city of rain! I am, as I previously stated, so excited.

While the whole reason we're going is to go to the Seattle boat show, I of course have a few other stops planned. I want to hit up at least one or two of the amazing thrift/antique stores that inhabit the city - I have looked a few up, but if you know of any that I just cannot miss, please let me know!

I also started a new coat last night - and I am so in love. I was so worried at the first snip of fabric, because, for one, I've never made something like this before in my life. Dresses are so easy to make, in my opinion. And secondly, I. Don't. Have. A pattern.

I know what you're thinking, I'm crazy, silly, irrationally clueless, I know, I know. But. I knew what I wanted. I sketched it out. And I did the bodice part of an old pattern to get the general shape - but the rest is just solely by guessing...and I'm seriously hoping it all works out - so far I have the jacket/coat part done, and fully lined, with the exception of the sleeves....it's such a pretty color! I can't wait till it's done, and I can show you all :) It will be lovely.

My favorite part though, I think, will be the fact that I'm using my great grandmother's buttons for it. They're so cute, and totally give it that quirky/unique/vintage spin.

Annnnnnyway....just wanted to share all that stuff....now I'm back to finishing the coat! have a wonderful evening!

that awkward moment......

Remember this post? Where I posted all of the awkward moments of the past few however long it was? Well. It was a hit, in my opinion (and incredibly fun to do), so I decided to do it again! Ready? here. we. go....

that awkward moment...
when you and your best friend are catching up because you haven't talked in foreverrrrr, and of course the topic of boys comes up, and you mention this guy is acting like he may like you, and she goes, "HA. I doubt it."
awkward.
when you realize you're an awful friend because you still haven't mailed two of your best friend's christmas and birthday presents. and it's been a month. yeah.
awkward.
when you're trying to set up the wireless connection on one of your dad's old laptops, and somehow, by doing so, end up disconnecting every other wireless device in the house...i.e.; iphones, ipods, the kindle, wii, blu ray player, laptops, etc....
awkward.
when you tell the kids at youth group, repeatedly, that they aren't allowed to use the coffee machine by themselves, and that they have to pay for their coffee...and you walk in and they use the lame excuse of "i pre-paid last week, and no one was here so I had to do it." haha. I don't buy that stuff....
awkward...
when you're recording music up at your friend's apartment, and their roommate comes out and makes chocolate milk and says "oh don't mind me being weird and all. I know it's not normal for grown men to drink chocolate milk in a wonder woman glass." ummm....no one said anything about that.....
awkward.
when you're throwing a mini-fit in the morning because none of your jeans fit - not because they're too small, no, but because they're too big, because you're one of the .01% of people who LOST weight between thanksgiving and new years, and hasn't gained it back....
awkward.
when your little brother's 15 year old best friend is basically in love with you and asks you to do everything with him and your brother. and then your brother says out loud "dude. she's not that great. get over it." in front of both of you. poor guy.
awkward.
when you introduce yourself to a new junior high aged kid at youth group, and say "hi, my name's ruthanne! I'm one of the leaders here, if you need anything let me know!" and he says "oh...hi...thanks..." and walks away.
awkward.
when you finish recording the second verse of "hallelujah" by leonard cohen up at your friends' place, and right when they hit the stop button, one of them jumps off the counter and yells "YEAH BABY! WHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" hahahaha...um....
awkward.

SOOOO....I hope you enjoyed this :) It was super fun to do again....and I hope it gave y'all a laugh :)

happy thursday!

my mom and pinterest.

This is my momma and me.

She's pretty great, and I love her.

But you know what seriously increases my love for her?

The fact that she has pinterest. and loves it.

Y'all should go follow her, btw...show her some looooooove. ;)

BUT.

Oh this is the best part...

On top of all that...she even created a board just for me.

Just. For. Me.

You know what she named it?

Talk about epic.

My mom is the coolest.

So.

Go follow that woman, so I can hear at some point tomorrow "I have a flood of [read: six] followers suddenly!"

And then I'll giggle mischievously.

Cause that's what I do.

Right?

Riiiiiiiiiight.

23.1.12

weekend recap.

I have been such a terrible blogger this week! Meh! I have no excuses, just think I needed a computer break for a few days...anyway. Just wanted to share my weekend with you!

Friday morning my and my brother's friend Blake called and asked if we wanted to go see Sherlock Holmes with him for his birthday - so we went to a movie with him...this was basically the day:

my brother and another of the boys' friends, chris - hiding from the camera, waiting for the movie, and eating in-n-out after!

I babysat last minute for my favorite family - sadly the kiddos were already in bed, but it was a nice end to a long day of fun, even though I didn't get to play with them much.

saturday was mellow. it snowed :) finally. You have to understand how terrible this winter has been for my area - we normally have a 6-8 month winter - regular storms the entire time - last year even amounted to over 700 inches of snow, some of the most we've had since my mom was a kid. And then this year? Nothing. We went thirty days without a drop of rain/snow - which is on the top 10 list of longest lengths of time without precipitation! Eep! So. it's pretty sweet to have some snow :)

I cuddled with my kitty.

mom made pizza - my favorite of the night was bacon mushroom.

then yesterday came around, and it was the best day I've had in a very long time.

the day started at 7 am. Got up early to get to church super early with mom. she was on worship team.

read this sign - the sign I've read a million times - and it struck me as awesome this time. LOVE - warning: causes dizziness.

then I greeted for Pam, gave her a break this week. It was wonderful. I love greeting everyone who walks through the doors with a smile.

after that, I was summoned to help with sunday school - they had no suitable teachers...so I helped these two boys keep the lil munchikins of the preschool class in order. they argued a lot....man.

and this was my favorite part of the day. my utmost favorite. I spent 6 full hours with two of my most favorite people ever, recording, singing, listening to their talent...it was amazing. We got my vocals for "hallelujah" laid down, and then we did a quickie recording of my new song - which I've changed the name to "all in faith". I can't wait to share the final versions with you - as soon as I get them I'm setting up a FB music page. :) These boys are so talented, and I love them both so, so, so very much.

Hope your weekend was as wonderful as mine - and that your week proves to be great too.

much love,
ruthanne

20.1.12

slow speeds in the sierras

My internet is so terrible right now - so I want to apologize for the lack of posts, email responses, etc, etc. Tourists are up right now - because there's a big storm coming through, and you know what that means? A freakin' ton of freakin' tourists spending a freakin' lot of money and time on our servers, making it nearly impossible to do anything - it's like dial up, seriously.

But I'll stop complaining and be thankful. The economy here is fairly good right now - and that is something to be thankful for, because if that wasn't happening, I wouldn't be babysitting for the contractors building 3, 4, 5, and sometimes even 8 million dollar homes, who pay me, who also pay my dad to do the awesome work he does...so I have nothing to complain about, really!

I just wanted to pop my head in and say hi! I'm planning on getting a bunch of posts prepared for you tomorrow - seeing as the next few days will be kind of hectic, starting with recording (!!!!) with some friends on sunday and then monday and tuesday just being normal crazy days.

Hope your weekend is wonderful - I send hugs to you all!

xoxo,
Ruthanne
