sleepovers, weddings and cowboy boots, oh my!

Greetings...lets hope I can write this post before I collapse...ha! Oh, the weekends are always so random for me. They're either crazy hectic or boring beyond all compare...this weekend was not boring...but I guess I still have one more day left, huh...anyway.

Friday night my friend Rachel came over! I rarely have friends over so it was a treat and super fun! We had hamburgers for dinner, and then...then...oh man. Then I cut her hair! Oh my gosh. It was so scary....She had me cut her bangs, and they're adorable, but oh man. I was so scared! After that we did the typical sleepover stuff...ya know, movies, nails, popcorn, ice cream. Yum ;)

The next morning we both had to work a wedding for the sister of one of our youth leaders. Twas fun, indeed. We were exhausted though, afterwards.

Then along came Sunday morning. Ah, I love Sundays, no matter what we do. We decided this time though, that since my dad and brother were both gone, we'd head down the hill to Roseville. Now, I am definitely a small town girl, and always will be, but I do love the city, to an extent. The funniest part though is that Roseville is like a legit city to me, and it's not even that big! Go figure.

We visited family; grandparents and cousins, the whole enchilada, ya know, that stuff. My aunt is engaged to the coolest guy ever, I mean really, he's awesome. Such a character. It's hard not to love him. Plus, his kids are named Attikus and Anakin. Like, what's not amazing about that?? Ha!

Then this morning rolled around and we had a lot to do. We started out at a giant Goodwill in Roseville that turned out to be a bust. They had virtually no vintage anything. It was sad. I was sad. It made my day sad. After that, we needed to go to TjMaxx where I bought a new purse [cutest thing ever, pictures will come later], and a few birthday gifts for my million friends.

Have you ever been to Panera Bread before? Well, I hadn't. I'd heard crazy things about it before but never been. We went today. Oh my gosh I fell in freaking love. Legit. Sooo yummy! After that though, it was a stressful evening. I had to get home to worship practice at 4. My mom wanted to stop in two school stores. *cue "ohhhh no"'s*.

The life and times of Ruthanne's mom [series 1, episode 1]
Heidi stepped from the car, her feet hitting the blacktop. I gulped. "Oh no, here we go again..." She took one step, two, three, four, and so on, getting closer and closer to the store. Oh, the store, the dreaded store. Complete heaven for my mother, complete intoxication. Life as we knew it was about to change. I watched as she reached the storefront, and opened the door, pausing dramatically as if to take it all in. My sister looked at me and looked at me with those puppy dog eyes, seeming to say "someone save us..." Ten minutes passed, twenty, thirty. I was getting impatient. We needed to go. Another ten minutes passed and she still didn't show. Jesse had to pee. Oh no, oh no, oh no I thought. I don't think she understood the urgency of the situation....Then she came, darting out of the store, running, dodging people in the parking lot. The heavens opened, angels sang, harps and trumpets played, then she was there, loading her two bags of stuff into the back, and off we were. The day wasn't totally ruined...this time....

The rest of my evening has been delightful though, Daddy's finally home. I missed him! What did you do this weekend??

lemonade && world puzzle

Lemonade.

What says summertime more than that? Not much, if you ask me. I mean, you don't wake up on February 8th and say. "Gee, I want some lemonade this lovely winter morning!" Nope, you don't. But in July? Totally different story, folks. And today we just so happened to have everything needed to make some of that deliciousnes! Especially the lemons needed. We had about a gazillion. Legit.

One...two...three...four...oh I give up counting.

It 'twas quite awesome seeing one of my vintage bowls filled with lemons, too.

After making my lemonade with two of my siblings, I sat down at the kitchen table to work on this amazing beauty. I love puzzles. No, I don't just love puzzles, I looooooove puzzles. Like, majorly. And this one was 600 pieces, and all the countries of the world were in their shapes! Seriously. Nigeria, Chile, Mexico, Turkey, France, etc. It was pretty awesome. My mom bought it for my brother's school this year, but I opened it first. Muah! After three glasses of lemonade, three John Mayer cd's and 2 hours of intensive concentration, I finished it with minimal help from the fam'. Isn't it pretty?

The wooooooorld....3 feet by 1 1/2 feet...yep...big'un isn't it?

post one.

It's 11:55 pm here in northern California. What does that mean for me? Oh, that I'm sitting here, trying to think of something remotely classy to put in my first blog post. And I got nothin'. Bummer, no? Thought so.

It was a gorgeous day here, though. I spent a good portion of it ourdoors, soaking up the sun, on a five mile hike. I came home, and after eating dinner, I had the urge to bake cupcakes. So, I did. Muah! I tried a new recipe - Pina Colada cupcakes with Coconut Cream Cheese Frosting from this blog, and I sadly wasn't thrilled. However, it turned out okay, cause I got to bake and make some bomb frosting.

But now I suppose I should tell you a little bit about my interests and what you'll be reading about. I have a lot of them though, so brace yourself. Iam an obsessor of music. I write songs, sing, play piano and am learning guitar. I love to sew; I don't get to as often as I'd like but it's still a hobby. I adore photography, I love to bake. I'm a lover of all things vintage; especially dresses. Also, I collect vintage Pyrex dishes.  Borderline geekness, I know. I love love love love love all things western. Cowboy boots, fried chicken, Texas, horseshoes, country music, the rodeo, you name it, I love it, basically. I am not by any means a major girly girl. I love to spend time outside, and one of my loves? Deep sea fishing. In fact, my daddy just left for a fishing trip with our boat, and I was so sad I couldn't go due to a job this weekend. And speaking of my daddy, I love him soooo much. I mean really, he's awesome. For one, he married my mom, and what's not awesome about that? Especially since they just celebrated their 19th anniversary on Monday. Oh, and then they had me, and my brother, and my sister, and my other brother, and then my other sister...[if you lost count, that's 5 kids total.] My brother is 13, sister 9, brother 4, sister 10 months. And believe me - it's crazy in my house. Oh yeah, and we home school. There's a lot more to add to the list but you'll find that out eventually.

As for me, it's now 12:30 and I need to go to bed..when will I learn that it's stupid to stay up so late? Probably never...sweet dreams to y'all...[oh yeah, and I use that term way more than I should.]

adios (:
